Malegra, which contains the active ingredient sildenafil citrate, enhances blood flow during sex by inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5). This enzyme typically breaks down cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), a molecule that helps relax smooth muscles in the blood vessels of the penis. By blocking PDE5, Malegra allows cGMP to accumulate, leading to the relaxation of penile blood vessels and increased blood flow during sexual stimulation. This process results in a firmer and longer-lasting erection. Malegra is not an aphrodisiac and only works in the presence of sexual arousal. It is often prescribed for men with erectile dysfunction (ED).
